"he has only one ḥadīth." I said: This refers to what al-Shaʿbī narrated, saying: Abū Jubayrah ibn al-Ḍaḥḥāk told me: "The verse *'and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames'* was revealed concerning us, the Banū Salamah. When the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came to Madīnah, there was not a man among us except that he had two or three names. When one of them was called by one of those names, they would say: O Messenger of Allāh, he is angered by this. So the verse *'and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames'* was revealed." It was recorded by Aḥmad (4/260) and others, and al-Tirmidhī (4/187), al-Ḥākim (2/463), and al-Dhahabī authenticated it. In all of this, there is an indication that the prevailing view among them is the companionship of Abū Jubayrah, which is evident from his statement "it was revealed concerning us." And Allāh knows best. The ḥadīth was also narrated by al-Ḥākim in "al-Kuná" as mentioned in "al-Fatḥ al-Kabīr" and was not attributed to anyone else! His saying: (the breeze of the Hour). In "al-Nihāyah": "It is from the first blowing of a gentle wind, meaning: I was sent at the beginning of the signs of the Hour and its weak arrival. And it was said: it is the plural of nasamah, meaning: I was sent among those with souls whom Allāh created before the approach of the Hour, as if he said: at the end of the generations of the children of Adam." I said: it is in the meaning of another ḥadīth "I was sent before the Hour."
"I was sent from the best generations of the children of Adam, generation after generation, until I was sent from the generation in which I am." It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (4/151 - al-Nahḍah) and Aḥmad (2/373 and 417) and Ibn Saʿd
