I said: Its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, except for Maʿrūf, and Ibn Ḥibbān alone declared him trustworthy. Ibn Lahīʿah also narrated from him, and in "Taqrīb" it is stated: "He is acceptable." I said: The ḥadīth is ḥasan, if Allāh wills, as it has another chain with the wording: "There is no contagion, no omen, and the best of birds is optimism, and the evil eye is true." It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/477) through the route of Saʿīd al-Jarīrī from Muḍārib ibn Ḥazn from Abū Hurayrah in a marfūʿ form. Ibn Mājah narrated only the last sentence from this route. It is agreed upon from another route from him, so refer to it in what will come, if Allāh wills (1248). This isnād also has trustworthy narrators, the narrators of the two Shaykhs, except for Muḍārib, and al-ʿAjlī declared him trustworthy. Qatādah also narrated from him, and in "Taqrīb" it is stated that he is acceptable. Thus, the ḥadīth is ḥasan, if Allāh, the Exalted, wills, along with the previous one. The ḥadīth was narrated with the wording: "There is no contagion, no bad omen, no owl, no envy, and the evil eye is true." It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/222) through the route of Rushdīn ibn Saʿd from al-Ḥasan ibn Thawbān from Hishām ibn Abī Ruqayyah from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ in a marfūʿ form. I said: This isnād is weak due to Rushdīn, as he is weak according to "Taqrīb," and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy.

- "There is no contagion, no bad omen, no month of Ṣafar, and no owl." An Arab said: "What about the camels that are in the desert like gazelles, then a mangy camel mixes with them and makes them mangy?" He said: "Then who infected the first one?"
