and the ḥadīth was also narrated from Abū Umāmah, but its isnād contains a suspect, so I did not consider it permissible to use it as evidence, and I included it in the other series (1637).

"Allāh said: By My might, I will not combine for My servant two securities and two fears. If he feels secure from Me in this world, I will make him fearful on the day I gather My servants, and if he fears Me in this world, I will make him secure on the day I gather My servants." It was recorded by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (6/98) through two chains from Muḥammad ibn Yaʿlá, who narrated to us from ʿUmar ibn Ṣubḥ, from Thawr, from Makhūl, from Shaddād ibn Aws that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is extremely weak; ʿUmar ibn Ṣubḥ was said by Ibn Ḥibbān and others to "fabricate ḥadīth." However, there is another chain recorded by ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak in "al-Zuhd" under number (157): ʿAwf informed us from al-Ḥasan who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it similarly. This isnād is authentic, but it is mursal. Yaḥyá ibn Ṣāʿid connected it in "Zawāʾid al-Zuhd" (158) saying: Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyá ibn Maymūn in Basra narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn ʿAṭāʾ informed us, saying: Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr narrated to us from Abū Salamah from Abū Hurayrah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) similarly. Al-Bazzār also followed him from this Ibn Maymūn, as al-Haythamī mentioned it in "al-Majmaʿ" (10/308) from both the mursal chain from al-Ḥasan and the connected chain from Abū Hurayrah, saying: "Al-Bazzār narrated them from his teacher Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyá ibn Maymūn, whom I do not know, and the rest of the narrators of the mursal are narrators of the authentic collections, as are the narrators of the musnad except Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr ibn ʿAlqamah, who is considered reliable in ḥadīth."
