- "Rejoice, rejoice! Do you not testify that there is no deity but Allāh and that I am the Messenger of Allāh?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Then this Quran is a rope, one end of which is in the hand of Allāh and the other end is in your hands, so hold firmly to it, for you will never go astray or be destroyed after it ever." This was narrated by ʿAbd ibn Ḥumayd in "al-Muntakhab min al-Musnad" (58/1): Ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us, Abū Khālid al-Aḥmar narrated to us from ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Jaʿfar from Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd from Abū Shurayḥ al-Khuzāʿī who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came out to us and said:" and he mentioned it. Then I saw it in "al-Muṣannaf" by Ibn Abī Shaybah (12/165) with this chain, and it was also extracted by Ibn Naṣr in "Qiyām al-Layl" (74) through another route from Abū Khālid al-Aḥmar with it. I said: And this is a ṣaḥīḥ isnād according to the criteria of Muslim. And it has a mursal witness narrated by Abū al-Ḥusayn al-Kalābī in "Ḥadīth" (240/1) from al-Layth ibn Saʿd from Saʿīd (meaning al-Maqburī) from Nāfiʿ ibn Jubayr with it mursal. I said: And this mursal is ṣaḥīḥ in isnād and it is more authentic than the connected one. Al-Ṭabarānī connected it in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (1/77/1) through the route of Abū ʿUbādah al-Zurqī al-Anṣārī who informed us from al-Zuhrī from Muḥammad ibn Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim from his father who said: "We were with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) at al-Juḥfah and he came out to us and said..." and he mentioned it, but Abū ʿUbādah is abandoned, and his name is ʿĪsá ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Furwah.
