"At the end of my nation, the Mahdī will emerge. Allāh will send rain for him, the earth will bring forth its vegetation, wealth will be distributed equitably, livestock will increase, and the nation will grow in greatness. He will live for seven or eight years, meaning ḥajj seasons." It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (4/557-558) through the route of Saʿīd ibn Masʿūd, who narrated to us from al-Naḍr ibn Shumayl, who narrated from Sulaymān ibn ʿUbayd, who narrated from Abū al-Ṣiddīq al-Nājī, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is authentic, its narrators are trustworthy, and Sulaymān ibn ʿUbayd is al-Sulamī. Ibn Maʿīn said: Trustworthy. Abū Ḥātim said: Truthful, as in "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" (2/1/95). And Saʿīd ibn Masʿūd, as it appears in "al-Mustadrak" (Saʿīd), but the correct name is "Saʿd," who is ibn Masʿūd al-Marwazī. Ibn Ḥātim said (2/1/95): "He narrated from Isḥāq ibn Manṣūr al-Salūlī, Rūḥ ibn ʿUbādah, Khalaf ibn Tamīm, and Muḥammad ibn Muṣʿab al-Qurqisānī. He wrote to my father and Abū Zurʿah and to me with some of his ḥadīth, and he is truthful." Al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic isnād." And al-Dhahabī agreed with him
" يخرج في آخر أمتي المهدي يسقيه الله الغيث وتخرج الأرض نباتها ويعطي المالصحاحا وتكثر الماشية وتعظم الأمة يعيش سبعا أو ثمانيا، يعني حجة ". أخرجه الحاكم (٤ / ٥٥٧ - ٥٥٨) من طريق سعيد بن مسعود حدثنا النضر بن شميل حدثنا سليمان بن عبيد حدثنا أبو الصديق الناجي عن أبي سعيد الخدري رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: فذكره. قلت: وهذا سند صحيح، رجاله ثقات وسليمان بن عبيد هو السلمي قال ابن معين: ثقة: وقال أبو حاتم: صدوق. كما في " الجرح والتعديل: (٢ / ١ / ٩٥) . وسعيد بن مسعود، كذا وقع في " المستدرك " (سعيد) والصواب " سعد " وهو ابن مسعود المروزي، قال ابن حاتم (٢ / ١ / ٩٥) : " روى عن إسحاق بن منصور السلولي وروح بن عبادة وخلف بن تميم ومحمد بن مصعب القرقساني، كتب إلى أبي وأبي زرعة وإلى ببعض حديثه وهو صدوق ". وقال الحاكم: " صحيح الإسناد ". ووافقه الذهبي.
