- he mentioned a story - he said: I heard my father say, I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: and he mentioned it. Abū Nuʿaym said: "And Abū Bakr's name is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥafṣ ibn ʿUmar ibn Saʿd ibn Abī Waqqāṣ." I said: He is trustworthy, from the men of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim]. And Ibrāhīm ibn al-Muhājir, who is al-Bajali, is disputed over. Aḥmad said: There is no harm in him, and Yaḥyá al-Qaṭṭān said: He was not strong. In "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful but weak in memory." I said: Thus, his ḥadīth is ḥasan, if Allāh wills.
"The best of people during tribulations is a man holding the reins of his horse, or he said the bridle of his horse, behind the enemies of Allāh, frightening them and they frighten him, or a man secluded in his desert fulfilling the right of Allāh upon him." It was narrated by al-Ḥākim (4/446) through the route of ʿAbd al-Razzāq, who informed us from Maʿmar, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṭāwūs, from his father, from Ibn ʿAbbās as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. He said: "Authentic according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said if the narrator from ʿAbd al-Razzāq, who is Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm - who is al-Dabarī - did not narrate it alone
