- "Allāh has refused to grant repentance to the killer of a believer." It was recorded by Muḥammad ibn Ḥamzah al-Faqīh in "Aḥādīth" (p. 215/2), al-Wāḥidī in "al-Wasīṭ" (1/180/2), and al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (127/1) through two chains from Suwayd ibn Naṣr, who reported from Ibn al-Mubārak, from Sulaymān al-Taymī (the first two added: from Ḥumayd), from Anas who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is authentic, and Sulaymān al-Taymī heard from Anas, so it is connected whether the addition is confirmed or not, and all its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim. The ḥadīth is also attributed in "al-Jāmiʿayn" to al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr", but I did not see it in the biography of Anas therein, so Allāh knows best. In "al-Fayḍ": "It is said in "al-Firdaws": authentic." It was narrated by a group from ʿUqbah ibn Mālik al-Laythī, and the reason was that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) sent a detachment, and they raided a people, and a man from them separated, so a man from the detachment followed him with his sword drawn and said: I am a Muslim, but he killed him. It was reported to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he spoke harshly, then mentioned it." I say: The ḥadīth of ʿUqbah was recorded by al-Nasāʾī in "al-Siyar" (1/39/1) and Aḥmad (4/110, 5/288-289) through the route of Ḥumayd ibn Hilāl from Bishr ibn ʿĀṣim from him, and its wording is: "Indeed, Allāh refused for one who killed a believer," he said it three times. And its narrators are trustworthy except for this Bishr, who is al-Laythī. Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him (1/1/360) without mentioning any criticism or commendation. It was also recorded by Ibn Saʿd in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (7/48-49) and al-Ḥākim (1/18-19) from this route, except that they said: "Naṣr ibn ʿĀṣim al-Laythī," and al-Ḥākim said:
