then Ibn Abī Ḥātim narrated from Abū Zurʿah that he also favored the ḥadīth of Ḥakīm. I said: It is weak as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," and so is Thuwair. Then Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (2/37): "I asked my father about a ḥadīth narrated by al-Muʾammal ibn Ismāʿīl from Sufyān from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, and he mentioned it. I heard my father say: This is a mistake, it is as Ḥasan ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir who said: I was told by Ibn ʿAbbās from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)." I said: Abū al-Ḥasan al-Ḥarbī also extracted it from the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAmr in "al-Fawāʾid al-Muntaqāh" (3/155/2) through the route of al-Muʾammal with it. The ḥadīth has a supporting narration from Abū Hurayrah, raised [to the Prophet] in a shortened form with the wording: "The habitual drinker of wine is like a worshiper of idols." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Tārīkh al-Kabīr" (1/1/386), Ibn Mājah (3375), Abū Bakr al-Malḥamī in "Majlisayn min al-Amālī" (1/2), Abū al-Ḥusayn al-Ābunūsī in "al-Fawāʾid" (3/2), al-Wāḥidī in "al-Wasīṭ" (1/255), and al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in "al-Muntaqá min al-Aḥādīth al-Ṣiḥāḥ wa-al-Ḥisān" (278/2) through various routes from Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān al-Aṣbahānī from Sahl ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ from his father from Abū Hurayrah. al-Ābunūsī said: "al-Dāraqutnī said: Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān was unique in narrating it from Sahl from his father from Abū Hurayrah." I said: In a narration by al-Bukhārī from Sulaymān from Sahl ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh from his father, the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said... and he mentioned it and said: "The ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah on this is not authentic." I said: Most narrators from Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān connected it, and this is the more likely [version] according to me
