- "The habitual drinker of alcohol, if he dies, meets Allāh like an idol worshiper." Reported by Aḥmad (1/272): Aswad ibn ʿĀmir narrated to us, Ḥasan, meaning Ibn Ṣāliḥ, narrated to us from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir who said: I was informed from Ibn ʿAbbās that he said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. It was also narrated by ʿAbd ibn Ḥumayd in "al-Muntaqá" (80/1) and al-Khulāʿī in "al-Fawāʾid" (105/1) from Ḥasan ibn Ṣāliḥ with it. I said: And this isnād [chain of transmission] has trustworthy men, the men of Muslim, except for the shaykh of Ibn al-Munkadir, who is unknown and not named, although he is named in some paths. Ibn Ḥibbān included it in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (1379) and from him al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in "al-Aḥādīth al-Mukhtārah" (154/1) and Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (220/1) from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Kharrāsh, who narrated to us from al-ʿAwwām ibn Ḥawshab from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr from Ibn ʿAbbās with a similar narration. Ibn ʿAdī said: "ʿAbd Allāh ibn Kharrāsh is munkar al-ḥadīth [his ḥadīth are objectionable]." I said: And he was not alone in narrating it, for it was also narrated by Isrāʾīl: Ḥakīm ibn Jubayr informed us from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr with it. It was reported by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (2/26) and al-Salafī in "al-Ṭuyūriyyāt" (198/1) and likewise Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (9/253) from paths from Isrāʾīl with it. Ibn Abī Ḥātim said: "And Aḥmad ibn Yūnus narrated it, saying: from Isrāʾīl from Thuwair from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr from Ibn ʿAbbās from the Prophet ﷺ. My father said: The ḥadīth of Ḥakīm is more authentic in my view. I asked my father: Is Ḥakīm ibn Jubayr more beloved to you or Thuwair? He said: There is none among them except a weak one, extreme in Shīʿism. I asked: Which of them is more beloved to you? He said: They are comparable." It was also reported by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (3/161/2) and Ibn Bishrān in "al-Amālī" (25/87/2) from Thuwair ibn Abī Fākhitah with it
