- "Neither the disobedient to parents, nor the habitual drinker, nor the denier of destiny will enter Paradise." It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/441) and from him by Ibn ʿAsākir in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (16/32/2): Abū Jaʿfar al-Suwaydī narrated to us, saying: Abū al-Rabīʿ Sulaymān ibn ʿUtbah al-Dimashqī narrated to us, saying: I heard Yūnus ibn Maysarah from Abū Idrīs ʿĀʾidh Allāh from Abū al-Dardāʾ from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he mentioned it. Ibn Mājah narrated part of it (3376) in the middle case from another route from Sulaymān ibn ʿUtbah with it. Al-Būṣīrī said in "al-Zawāʾid": "Its isnād is good, and Sulaymān ibn ʿUtbah is disputed over, and the rest of the men of the isnād are trustworthy." I say: It is as he said.

- "It suffices you to strike the snake with a whip, whether you hit it or miss it." It was recorded by Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Aṣamm in "Ḥadīth" (no. 150 - my copy) and al-Dāraqutnī in "al-Afrād" (vol. 3 no. 48 my copy) through the route of Ismāʿīl ibn Maslamah ibn Qaʿnib, who narrated to us from Ḥumayd ibn al-Aswad from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr from Abū Salamah from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it, and said: "A strange ḥadīth from the narration of Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr from Abū Salamah from Abū Hurayrah, uniquely narrated by Abū al-Aswad Ḥumayd ibn al-Aswad from him, and we do not know of anyone else who narrated it from Ismāʿīl ibn Maslamah ibn Qaʿnib from him."
