I said: It seems he did not realize that the ḥadīth of Ibn Lahīʿah is narrated by Ibn al-Mubārak from him. Otherwise, he would have weakened it. And Allāh knows best.

"Recite the Quran, for you will be rewarded for it. I do not say: * (Alif Lām Mīm) * is one letter, but Alif is ten, Lām is ten, and Mīm is ten, making thirty." It was recorded by al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (1/285) and al-Daylamī (1/1/13) through the route of Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn al-Junayd who said: Abū ʿĀṣim informed us from Sufyān from ʿAṭāʾ ibn al-Sāʾib from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ from ʿAbd Allāh who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. This isnād is good; its men are trustworthy, the men of the authentic collections except for Ibn al-Junayd, whom al-Khaṭīb mentioned and said: "He is a truthful shaykh." Others have also considered him trustworthy. There is a disagreement regarding its elevation, as al-Dārimī said in "Sunan" (2/429): Abū ʿĀmir Qabīṣah narrated to us, Sufyān informed us with something similar, except that he stopped it. The elevation is preferred as al-Tirmidhī recorded it (4/53) through the route of Muḥammad ibn Kaʿb al-Qurẓī who said: I heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd say: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allāh will have... " the ḥadīth similar to it and he said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ." I said: Its isnād is also good, and I have included it in my commentary on "al-Ṭaḥāwiyyah" (p. 201 - fourth edition, published by al-Maktab al-Islāmī) and "al-Mishkāt" (2137)
