I said: This is a weak chain of transmission, and it has two defects: the first is the unknown status of Umayyah, as neither Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him nor did anyone authenticate him, and for this reason, the ḥāfiẓ said "acceptable." However, he was not the only one who narrated it, as will be shown. The second defect is Shurayk, who is Ibn ʿAbd Allāh the judge, and he had poor memory. He was followed by Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ, but he differed in his isnād, inserting between ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz and Umayyah ibn Ṣafwān the name of Ibn Abī Mulaykah. Al-Bayhaqī suspended it. He was also followed by Jarīr, but he said: from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz from some people of the family of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣafwān that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "O Ṣafwān, do you have any weapons?"
