his life, I would have affirmed the authenticity of this isnād. Al-Mundhirī said in "al-Targhīb" (2/170): "It was narrated by al-Bazzār and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ, and their isnād is good and strong." Al-Haythamī said (6/269): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ and al-Kabīr and by al-Bazzār, and the men of al-Ṭabarānī are the men of the authentic collections except for ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Bakht, who is trustworthy."

"There is no leader who closes his door to those in need, want, and poverty except that Allāh closes the doors of the heavens to his want, need, and poverty." It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (1/249), al-Ḥākim (4/94), and Aḥmad (4/231) through the route of ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥakam who said: Abū Ḥasan narrated to me from ʿAmr ibn Murrah who said: I said to Muʿāwiyah ibn Abī Sufyān that I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and he mentioned it. He said: So Muʿāwiyah appointed a man over the needs of the people. Al-Ḥākim said: Its isnād is authentic, and al-Dhahabī agreed with him! This is one of their errors, for this Abū al-Ḥasan is al-Jazarī, and al-Dhahabī himself said in his biography in al-Mīzān: "ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥakam is the only one who narrated from him," and al-Ḥāfiẓ said in al-Taqrīb "unknown." However, the ḥadīth has another authentic isnād with the wording: "Whomever Allāh appoints over something of the affairs of the Muslims, and he conceals himself from their needs, wants, and poverty, Allāh will conceal Himself from his need, want, and poverty." It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd (2948) and al-Tirmidhī, but he did not provide its wording
