- and al-Daylamī in "Musnad al-Firdaws" (1/1/113 - its abridged version) through the route of Muslim ibn Khālid from Zayd ibn Aslam from Sumay from Abū Ṣāliḥ from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. Al-Ḥākim said: "Its isnād is authentic, and it has a sound corroborating witness according to the criteria of Muslim. He narrated it to us..." Then he traced it through the route of Ibn ʿAjlān from Saʿīd from Abū Hurayrah in a narration, and he mentioned it. Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. His statement: "It is according to the criteria of Muslim" involves leniency because Muslim only narrated from Ibn ʿAjlān as a supporting narration, so the ḥadīth is authentic when considering both routes together. His use of "narration" means it is elevated, as established in the science of terminology. Therefore, the first isnād should not be criticized for this, rather this is a strong corroborating evidence for it, as al-Ḥākim mentioned. And Allāh knows best.

- "Adhere to archery, for it is better for your play." It was narrated by Abū Ḥafṣ al-Muʾaddib in "al-Muntaqá min Ḥadīth Ibn Makhlad wa-Ghayrih" (225/2) and al-Khaṭīb in "al-Mawḍiḥ" (2/30) from Ḥātim ibn al-Layth who said: Yaḥyá ibn Ḥammād narrated to us, Abū ʿAwānah narrated to us from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr from Muṣʿab ibn Saʿd from his father in an elevated narration. I say: This isnād is good; all its men are trustworthy from the men of "al-Tahdhīb" except for Ḥātim ibn al-Layth, about whom al-Khaṭīb said (8/245): "He was trustworthy, reliable, precise, and a memorizer." The rest of its men are the men of the two Shaykhs, and if it were not for the fact that ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr's memory changed towards the end..
