" and he was trustworthy, and al-Dāraqutnī said: truthful, he narrated in Baghdad." I said: ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan al-Ḍarīr is ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Shaqīq al-ʿAbdī, their client from Marw: they mentioned Abū Ḥamzah al-Sukkari among his teachers, his teacher in this ḥadīth, but I did not see anyone describe him as "al-Ḍarīr." And Allāh knows best. The ḥadīth has supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās. "that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) forbade eating the food of those who compete with each other." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (3754) and others with a chain of narrators who are trustworthy, but they authenticated it as mursal as I clarified in the commentary on "al-Mishkāt," and it is a mursal with a sound isnād, thus it is strong supporting evidence, especially since al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī included it in "al-Mukhtārah" (64/41/1), and he pointed to the disagreement regarding its continuity and its being mursal.

- "When one of you enters upon his Muslim brother and he offers him food, let him eat without asking about it, and if he gives him drink, let him drink without asking about it." It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (4/126), Aḥmad (2/399), and al-Khaṭīb (3/87)
