and he was also contradicted by Ibrāhīm ibn Ḥamzah al-Zubayrī from Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah in it. It was recorded by al-Baghawī in "Sharḥ al-Sunnah" (3/3/1) and he said: "ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUwāym did not have companionship [with the Prophet]." Al-Bayhaqī also said this after narrating it through ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr al-Ḥumaydī, who reported to us from Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah in it. I said: it is mursal, according to the narration of the group from Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah, but according to the narration of Ibrāhīm al-Ḥazāmī from him, it is connected because he said: "ʿUtbah ibn ʿUwāym" instead of "ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUwāym." ʿUtbah had companionship like his father, but the correct version is the narration of the group. From this, you learn that the statement of the author of "al-Mishkāt" (3092): "Ibn Mājah narrated it as mursal." is incorrect, as it is connected, and it was narrated by al-Baghawī and others as mursal, as we explained. It has a corroborating narration from Jābir, raised [to the Prophet] with it, and it adds: "and less love." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (1/163/1): Muḥammad ibn Mūsá al-Iṣṭakhrī reported to us, ʿIṣmah ibn al-Mutawakkil informed us from Baḥr al-Saqā from Abū al-Zubayr from him. And he said: "No one narrated it from Baḥr except ʿIṣmah." I said: it is a weak isnād, filled with defects: the first: the ʿanʿanah of Abū al-Zubayr, as he was a mudallis. The second: Baḥr al-Saqā, as he is weak as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb": the third: ʿIṣmah ibn al-Mutawakkil, al-ʿUqaylī said in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" (325):
وخالفه كذلك إبراهيم بن حمزة الزبيري عن محمد بن طلحة به. أخرجه البغوي في " شرح السنة " (٣ / ٣ / ١) وقال: " وعبد الرحمن بن عويم ليست له صحبة ". وكذلك قال البيهقي بعد أن رواه من طريق عبد الله بن الزبير الحميدي حدثنا محمد بن طلحة به. قلت: فهو مرسل، على رواية الجماعة عن محمد بن طلحة، وأما على رواية إبراهيم الحزامي عنه فهو موصول لأنه قال: " عتبة بن عويم " مكان " عبد الرحمن بن عويم ". وعتبة له صحبة كأبيه، لكن الصواب رواية الجماعة. ومن هذا تعلم أن قول صاحب " المشكاة " (٣٠٩٢) : " رواه ابن ماجه مرسلا ". خطأ، فإنما هو موصولا، ورواه البغوي وغيره مرسلا، كما شرحنا. وله شاهد من حديث جابر مرفوعا به وزاد: " وأقل حبا ". أخرجه الطبراني في " الأوسط " (١ / ١٦٣ / ١) : حدثنا محمد بن موسى الإصطخري أنبأنا عصمة بن المتوكل عن بحر السقا عن أبي الزبير عنه. وقال: " لم يروه عن بحر إلا عصمة ". قلت: وهو إسناد واه مسلسل بالعلل: الأولى: عنعنة أبي الزبير، فإنه كان مدلسا. الثانية: بحر السقاء فإنه ضعيف كما في " التقريب ": الثالثة: عصمة بن المتوكل، قال العقيلي في " الضعفاء " (٣٢٥) :
