- "Adhere to marrying virgins, for they have sweeter mouths, more fertile wombs, and are more content with little." It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (1861): Ibrāhīm ibn al-Mundhir al-Ḥizāmī narrated to us, Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah al-Taymī narrated to us, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sālim ibn ʿUtbah ibn ʿUwāym ibn Sāʿidah al-Anṣārī narrated to me from his father from his grandfather who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said. I said: This isnād is weak, and it has two defects: the first is anonymity, as ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sālim ibn ʿUtbah is not known to have any narrator other than this Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah. Hence, al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Unknown." I said: Similarly, his father Sālim ibn ʿUtbah is not known to have any narrator other than his son ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. The second defect is the inconsistency in its isnād, as al-Ḥizāmī narrated it from Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah in this manner, while Fayḍ ibn Wathīq contradicted him, saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sālim ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUwāym ibn Sāʿidah narrated to me from his father from his grandfather with it. It was recorded by al-Muqābirī in "Ḥadīth" (87/1), and Tamām al-Rāzī in "al-Fawāʾid" (113/2), and al-Bayhaqī (7/81). He was also contradicted by ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ibrāhīm al-Dimashqī who informed us through Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah al-Taymī with it. It was recorded by Ibn Qutaybah in "Gharīb al-Ḥadīth" (1/36/1)
