"this is a rejected ḥadīth." He mentioned it in another place (2/306) through the route of ʿAmr ibn ʿĀṣim al-Kilābī from Ḥammād ibn Salamah from ʿAlī ibn Zayd with it. He said: "My father said: He added Jundub to the isnād, and it is not preserved. Abū Salamah narrated to us from Ḥammād, and Jundub is not in it." I said: and it is with all of them through the route of ʿAmr ibn ʿĀṣim, so it is as if Abū Ḥātim is indicating the weakening of the ḥadīth due to the disconnection between al-Ḥasan and Ḥudhayfah, and in any case, it is disconnected due to what was mentioned about tadlīs. Then I found a supporting narration for the ḥadīth from Ibn ʿUmar, raised [to the Prophet]. Al-Ṭabarānī recorded it in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (3/204/1): Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Abī Khaythamah narrated to us, Zakariyyā ibn Yaḥyá al-Madāʾinī narrated to us, Shabābah ibn Sawwār narrated to us, Waraqāʾ ibn ʿUmar narrated from Ibn Abī Najīḥ from Mujāhid from him with it. I said: and this isnād is authentic if Zakariyyā ibn Yaḥyá is Abū Yaḥyá al-Luʾluʾī, the jurist and ḥāfiẓ, and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs, except for Ibn Abī Khaythamah, who is a trustworthy ḥāfiẓ with a biography in "Tadhkirat al-Ḥuffāẓ" (2/278) and elsewhere.
