the Messenger of Allāh whom Allāh has given you? He said: It pleased him, so he prayed to Allāh to increase me in knowledge and understanding. He said: Then I saw the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) sleep until I heard him snoring. Then Bilāl came to him and said: O Messenger of Allāh, the prayer. So he got up and prayed without renewing his ablution. I said: And this isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, and it was also recorded by al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (67/118/2) through the route of Imām Aḥmad. Then he said: "It has been narrated in the two Ṣaḥīḥs about the prayer of Ibn ʿAbbās with the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) from other routes, but in what we have narrated regarding the snoring and the statement of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and his response, they did not mention it in the (Ṣaḥīḥ)." And in the ḥadīth, from the fiqh, is that the sunnah is that when a single man follows the imām, he stands beside him on his right, neither ahead nor behind, which is the Ḥanbalī position as in "Manār al-Sabīl" (1/128).

- "The best earning is a man's work with his own hands, and every honest sale." Authentic. It has two routes: the first is from Rāfiʿ ibn Khadīj, narrated by Aḥmad (4/141), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (1/135/1), and al-Ḥākim (2/10) from al-Masʿūdī from Wāʾil ibn Dāwūd from ʿUbāyah ibn Rifāʿah from him. He said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was asked: Which earning is the best? He said: A man's work... And al-Ṭabarānī said: "No one narrated it from Wāʾil except al-Masʿūdī."
