and (Abū Dāwūd and Ibn Mājah) and (he would sometimes stand barefoot and sometimes with sandals) and he permitted this for his community, saying: (Abū Dāwūd and al-Bazzār, authenticated by al-Ḥākim and agreed upon by al-Dhahabī) "When one of you prays, let him wear his sandals or remove them between his feet and not harm others with them." He sometimes emphasized praying in them, saying: (Abū Dāwūd and al-Bazzār, authenticated by al-Ḥākim and agreed upon by al-Dhahabī) "Be different from the Jews, for they do not pray in their sandals or their leather socks." He would sometimes remove them from his feet while in prayer and then continue his prayer, as Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī said:
(أبو داود وابن ماجه) و (كان يقف حافيا أحيانا ومنتعلا أحيانا) وأباح ذلك لأمته فقال:(أبو داود والبزار وصححه الحاكم ووافقه الذهبي) (إذا صلى أحدكم فليلبس نعليه أو ليخلعهما بين رجليه ولا يؤذي بهما غيره). وأكد عليهم الصلاة فيهما أحيانا فقال:(أبو داود والبزار وصححه الحاكم ووافقه الذهبي) (خالفوا اليهود فإنهم لا يصلون في نعالهم ولا خفافهم). وكان ربما نزعهما من قدميه وهو في الصلاة ثم استمر في صلاته كما قال أبو سعيد الخدري:
