2 - (Muslim, Abū ʿAwānah, and al-Shāfiʿī) Ibn ʿAbbās testified: He said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to teach us the tashahhud just as he taught us [a sūrah from] the Quran, and he would say: (All greetings, blessings, prayers, and good things are for Allāh. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allāh and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allāh. I bear witness that there is no deity but Allāh and [I bear witness] that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allāh. In another narration: His servant and Messenger)
