and he (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) taught them various forms of the tashahhud: 1 - (al-Bukhārī and Muslim) (The tashahhud of Ibn Masʿūd: He said: (The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) taught me the tashahhud - [while] my hand was between his hands - just as he taught me a sūrah from the Qurʾān: (All greetings, prayers, and good things are for Allāh. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allāh and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allāh [for if he says that, it reaches every righteous servant in the heavens and the earth]. I bear witness that there is no deity but Allāh, and I bear witness that Muḥammad is His servant and Messenger) [and he was among us, but when he passed away, we said: Peace be upon the Prophet]
