May Allāh protect us and you with piety and guide us and you to conform to guidance. As for what follows, may Allāh rectify you, you asked me to clarify for you a matter from the sunnah that would strengthen your resolve to adhere to it and help you ward off the doubts of misleading statements and the deviations of the misguided innovators. I have explained to you a clear and illuminating path, sparing no effort in advising myself and you in it. I began it with praise to Allāh, the Possessor of guidance and direction. All praise is due to Allāh, who is most deserving of mention and most worthy of gratitude. Upon Him I bestow praise, the One, the Eternal, who has no consort nor offspring, exalted above any likeness, having no equal or counterpart, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, the All-Knowing, the All-Aware, the Invincible, the Exalted.
