Ibrāhīm al-Muzanī (may Allāh have mercy on him), and one of our companions said, "It has reached me that he used to speak about the Quran and would pause regarding it." Another mentioned that he would say it until other people joined us, and this greatly distressed the people. So we wrote to him a letter, intending to inquire from him to write to us an explanation of the sunnah regarding predestination, irjāʾ, the Quran, resurrection, the scales, and reflection. He wrote back to us.
