Selecting One of the Two Authentic Ḥadīths Due to the Precedence of Its Narrator's Memory
اخْتِيَاره أحد الْحَدِيثين الصَّحِيحَيْنِ لقدم حفظ صَاحبه
I have reviewed everything you mentioned, so be aware that it is all as you stated, except if it has been narrated from two authentic sources. One of them has a stronger chain of transmission, while the other has a narrator with a more established memory. I might have written that, and I do not see in my book more than ten such ḥadīths.
ووقفت على جَمِيع مَا ذكرْتُمْ فاعلموا أَنه كَذَلِك كُله إِلَّا أَن يكون قد روى من وَجْهَيْن صَحِيحَيْنِ. فأحدهما أقوم اسنادا وَالْآخر صَاحبه أقدم فِي الْحِفْظ. فَرُبمَا كتبت ذَلِك وَلَا أرى فِي كتابي من هَذَا عشرَة أَحَادِيث.
The Scarcity of Ḥadīths in the Chapters
قلَّة أَحَادِيث الْأَبْوَاب
I did not write in the chapter except one or two ḥadīths. Even if there are authentic ḥadīths in the chapter, they are numerous. My intention was only to bring closer its benefit.
وَلم أكتب فِي الْبَاب إِلَّا حَدِيثا أَو حديثين وَإِن كَانَ فِي الْبَاب أَحَادِيث صِحَاح فَإِنَّهُ يكثر وَإِنَّمَا أردْت قرب منفعَته
Repeating the Ḥadīth
إِعَادَة الحَدِيث
If I repeated the ḥadīth in the chapter from two or three sources, it is only due to additional commentary in it. There might be an additional word in it compared to other ḥadīths.
وَإِذا أعدت الحَدِيث فِي الْبَاب من وَجْهَيْن أَو ثَلَاثَة فانما هُوَ من زِيَادَة كَلَام فِيهِ وَرُبمَا تكون فِيهِ كلمة زِيَادَة على الْأَحَادِيث
