And the saying of Allāh, the Exalted: "O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely" (Al-Baqarah, 2:208). And His saying, the Exalted: "Have you not seen those who claim to have believed in what was revealed to you and what was revealed before you?" (An-Nisāʾ, 4:60). And His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects, you, [O Muḥammad], are not [associated] with them in anything" (Al-Anʿām, 6:159). Ibn ʿAbbās (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) said regarding the saying of Allāh, the Exalted: "On the Day [some] faces will turn white and [some] faces will turn black" (Āl ʿImrān, 3:106), the faces of the people of the sunnah and unity will turn white, and the faces of the people of innovation and division will turn black. ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAmr (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) reported that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "There will come upon my nation what came upon the Children of Israel, step by step, such that if there was one among them who openly committed incest with his mother, there will be someone in my nation who does that. And indeed, the Children of Israel divided into seventy-two sects, and this nation will divide into seventy-three groups, all of them in the Fire except one sect. They said: 'Who are they, O Messenger
