Allāh?' He said, 'What I and my Companions are upon.'" Let the believer who hopes to meet Allāh reflect on the words of the truthful and trustworthy one in this context, especially his saying: 'What I and my Companions are upon.' What an admonition it would be if it found hearts that are alive! Narrated by al-Tirmidhī. It is also narrated from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah and authenticated, but it does not mention the fire. It is in the ḥadīth of Muʿāwiyah (with) Aḥmad and Abū Dāwūd, and it includes: "A group from my nation will emerge, driven by desires as rabies drives its host, leaving no vein or joint untouched." And his saying has preceded: "And one who seeks in Islam the practices of the Age of Ignorance."
