Chapter on What Has Been Reported That Innovation Is More Severe Than Major Sins
باب ما جاء أن البدعة أشد من الكبائر
Because of His saying: "Indeed, Allāh does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills." (Sūrah An-Nisāʾ, 4:48). And His saying: "And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allāh a lie to mislead people without knowledge?" (Sūrah Al-Anʿām, 6:144). And His saying: "That they may bear their own burdens in full on the Day of Resurrection and some of the burdens of those whom they mislead without knowledge. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear." (Sūrah An-Naḥl, 16:25). And in the authentic [ḥadīth] that he (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said about the Khawārij: "Wherever you find them, kill them." And in it, he forbade killing tyrannical rulers as long as they pray. لقوله (: ﴿إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ﴾. وقوله: ﴿فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِباً لِيُضِلَّ النَّاسَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ﴾. وقوله تعالى: ﴿لِيَحْمِلُوا أَوْزَارَهُمْ كَامِلَةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَمِنْ أَوْزَارِ الَّذِينَ يُضِلُّونَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ أَلا سَاءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ﴾. وفي الصحيح أنه ﷺ قال في الخوارج: "أينما لقيتموهم فاقتلوهم". وفيه أنه نهى عن قتل أمراء الجور ما صلوا. عن جرير بن عبد الله ﵁ أن رجلا تصدق بصدقة ثم تتابع الناس فقال رسول الله ﷺ: "من سنّ في الإسلام سنة حسنة فله أجرها وأجر من عمل بها من بعده من غير أن ينقص من
