Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to us: ʿAmr ibn Ṭalḥah al-Qannād narrated to us: Ḥusayn ibn ʿĪsá narrated to us, from his father, from ʿAlī ibn ʿAmr ibn Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Yaḥyá, or Yaḥyá, the freedman of Muʿādh ibn ʿAfrāʾ al-Anṣārī who said: ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) addressed the people while I was present and said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to favor the Banū Hāshim over others."

Ibn Zanjawīh and Ibrāhīm ibn Hāniʾ narrated to me, they said: Abū Ṣāliḥ the scribe of al-Layth narrated to us: Abū Ayyūb narrated to me, from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn al-Mughīrah, from Munqidh, the freedman of Ibn Surāqah, from ʿUthmān, that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "O ʿUthmān, when you purchase, measure, and when you sell, measure."

Abū Mūsá Hārūn ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to me: Wahb ibn Jarīr narrated to us: My father narrated to us, I heard al-Nuʿmān narrating from al-Zuhrī, from Abū ʿUbayd who said: ʿUmar, may Allāh have mercy on him, led us out on the day of Eid al-Fiṭr or Eid al-Aḍḥá and prayed two rakʿahs with us without adhān or iqāmah, and said: "I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) forbidding fasting on these two days. As for this day, it is the day of your sacrifice, so eat from your sacrifice." Then I witnessed ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) doing the same as ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu). Abū al-Qāsim said: No one else has narrated it from ʿUthmān (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) except him. End of the musnad. All praise is due to Allāh, firstly and lastly, outwardly and inwardly. Sufficient for us is Allāh, and He is the best disposer of affairs.
