and on this occasion, I draw the readers' attention to the treatise "Reflections on (al-Naẓarāt)" authored by the esteemed brother Samīr Amīn al-Zuhayrī. He provides a concise and beneficial response, by Allāh's permission, to the (Naẓarāt) of the caller and his reckless, unjust companion who questioned the authenticity of ḥadīths in the first volume of this authentic series. He declared—may Allāh reward him well—that they did not succeed in even a single ḥadīth! He provided some examples and models of their failed discussions. Then he advised them to focus on their own books and revise them, as they contain much that needs reconsideration before engaging with the works of others. In the introduction of the treatise, he mentioned the reasons that compel them to respond to me, and he limited them to four: 1- Modernity. 2- Lack of knowledge. 3- Desires. 4- Love of appearance. Then he discussed each reason in some detail, so I refer the readers to it for benefit, as it is rare in its field. I add to what he mentioned: old age! Some have realized the importance of this knowledge at a late age, so they began to authenticate and weaken [ḥadīths], making many mistakes. 6- Finally, I see it necessary to draw attention to what I mentioned under ḥadīth (516), which is that I was mistaken along with al-Ḥākim and al-Dhahabī in their statement: that ʿAṭāʾ, the father of Yaʿlá, is according to Muslim's criteria. The truth is that he is not according to his criteria, and he is only known through his son's narration from him. Glory be to the One who does not forget.
