the Messenger of Allāh, and what is his honor?" He said: "By oiling and combing it every day." He said: "It was narrated by Abū Nuʿaym in 'Tārīkh Iṣbahān' and Ibn ʿAsākir from Ibn ʿUmar, and in it is Isḥāq ibn Ismāʿīl al-Ramlī. Abū Nuʿaym said: He narrated ḥadīths from memory and made mistakes in them. Al-Nasāʾī said: He is acceptable." I said: And this addition, despite the weakness of its chain, is objectionable because it contradicts the forthcoming ḥadīth: "The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) forbade combing except occasionally."
