Ishāq, the brother of Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq, from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir, narrated from him a ḥadīth similar to that of Abū Umāmah, and he said: "ʿAmmār ibn Isḥāq is not followed in his ḥadīth, and he is not well-known for transmission. The latter part of the ḥadīth has been narrated with a chain better than this one, [stating] that the best deed is a truthful word in the presence of a tyrannical ruler." 5 - al-Zuhrī. Al-Manāwī said that al-Bayhaqī stated: "It has a supporting mursal ḥadīth with a good chain, then he narrated it from al-Zuhrī with the wording: 'The best jihad is a just word in the presence of a tyrannical ruler.'" I said: I did not see it in al-Bayhaqī's "al-Shuʿab" from the mursal of al-Zuhrī, but rather from the mursal of Ṭāriq ibn Shihāb mentioned earlier. 6 - Then I found it from his ḥadīth through Bakr ibn Khunays from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUbayd ibn ʿUmayr from his father from his grandfather, raised [to the Prophet], recorded by al-Ḥākim (3/626) who remained silent about it, and al-Dhahabī weakened it, and its defect is Bakr, for he is weak.
- "Whoever hangs a talisman has committed shirk." It was recorded by Imām Aḥmad (4/156) and al-Ḥārith ibn Abī Usāmah in his "Musnad" (155 from his additions) and through his route by Abū al-Ḥasan Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Bazzār al-Baghdādī in "A Part of His Ḥadīth" (171-172) from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Manṣūr who narrated to us from Yazīd ibn Abī Manṣūr from Dukhayn al-Ḥajarī from ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir al-Juhanī: "That the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) approached a group, he pledged allegiance to nine and withheld from one. They said: O Messenger of Allāh, you pledged allegiance to nine and left this one? He said: He has a talisman on him. So he put his hand in and cut it off, then pledged allegiance to him and said." Then he mentioned it
