" and this ḥadīth is not confirmed as being elevated [to the Prophet], and what is well-known from Ibn ʿUmar is from his own statement." Then he narrated it through the chain of ʿAmr ibn Dīnār from him with a similar wording. I say: its isnād is authentic. However, the elevated status is strengthened by the fact that it has another chain and a corroborating witness. As for the chain, it is found with al-Bayhaqī from Aḥmad ibn ʿUmar al-Wakīʿī, who narrated to us from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muḥammad al-Muḥāribī from Yaḥyá ibn Saʿīd al-Anṣārī from Nāfiʿ with the wording: "If one of you feels drowsy during the prayer in the mosque on Friday..." and he said: "The intended meaning of prayer is the place of prayer, and this ḥadīth is not confirmed as being elevated..." I say: The men of this chain are the men of Muslim, except that al-Muḥāribī was described by Aḥmad as being a mudallis, and perhaps for this reason al-Bayhaqī did not confirm his ḥadīth. If not for that, the chain would be authentic, so at the very least it is suitable for corroboration. As for the corroborating witness, it is narrated by Ismāʿīl ibn Muslim from al-Ḥasan from Samurah ibn Jundub that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it and added in his narration: "It was said to Ismāʿīl: even when the imam is delivering the khuṭbah? He said: Yes." It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī (3/237-238) and he said: "This Ismāʿīl ibn Muslim is not strong." I say: And through his chain, it was narrated by al-Bazzār (p. 70 - his additions) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" as in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" by al-Haythamī (2/180) and he said: "He is weak."
