and Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim in "al-Sunnah" (p. 114/2), al-Ḥākim (3/71, 145), Aḥmad in "al-Musnad" (5/220, 221), al-Rūyānī in "Musnad" (25/136/1), Abū Yaʿlá al-Mawṣilī in "al-Mufārīd" (3/15/2), Abū Ḥafṣ al-Ṣayrafī in "Ḥadīth" (p. 261/1), Khaythamah ibn Sulaymān in "Faḍāʾil al-Ṣaḥābah" (3/108-109), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (1/8/1), Abū Nuʿaym in "Faḍāʾil al-Ṣaḥābah" (2/261/2), and al-Bayhaqī in "Dalāʾil al-Nubuwwah" (vol. 2) through various chains from Saʿīd ibn Jumhān from Safīnah Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, the freedman of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), who said: and he mentioned it as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. The wording of Abū Dāwūd is: "The caliphate of prophethood is thirty years, then Allāh gives the kingdom or His kingdom to whom He wills." He, along with al-Tirmidhī, Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim, Aḥmad, and others, added: "Safīnah said: Count the caliphate of Abū Bakr (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) as two years, the caliphate of ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) as ten years, the caliphate of ʿUthmān (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) as twelve years, and the caliphate of ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) as six years." Al-Tirmidhī added: "Saʿīd said: I said to him: The Banū Umayyah claim that the caliphate is theirs. He said: They lie, the sons of the blue-eyed woman, rather they are kings, the worst of kings." I said: This addition is uniquely reported by Ḥashraj ibn Nabātah from Saʿīd ibn Jumhān, and it is weak because Ḥashraj is considered weak. Al-Dhahabī mentioned him in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" and said: "Al-Nasāʾī said: He is not strong." Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful but makes mistakes."
