it is confirmed that the isnād leads to him. I have reviewed all the narrators in the isnād and found them trustworthy, except for the shaykh of al-Khaṭīb: ʿAlī ibn Abī ʿAlī, for whom I did not find a biography. It appears that he is not from Baghdad, otherwise al-Khaṭīb would have mentioned him in "Tārīkh," and Allāh knows best. The ḥadīth has a corroborating narration with the wording: "There are no two men who love each other...." (Note) All narrations of the ḥadīth use the wording: "two men." As for al-Ghazālī, he mentioned it in "Iḥyāʾ" (2/139) with the wording: "two." I did not find it in any of these narrations.
"Allāh has not sent down a disease except that He has also sent down a cure for it; those who know it, know it, and those who are ignorant of it, are ignorant." It was recorded by Aḥmad (1/377, 413, 453) through various chains. One of them is the chain of Sufyān—who is Ibn ʿUyaynah—from ʿAṭāʾ ibn al-Sāʾib from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥabīb, who said: I heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd attribute it to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). It was also recorded by Ibn Mājah (2/340) from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mahdī, who narrated to us from Sufyān from ʿAṭāʾ with it, without the phrase: "those who know it..." etc
