and it was narrated by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab" (125) as a mawqūf report on her: Saʿīd ibn Talīd narrated to us, saying: Ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying: Jābir ibn Ismāʿīl and others narrated to me from ʿUqayl from Ibn Shihāb from ʿUrwah from ʿĀʾishah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā) that she used to say: "Poetry, some of it is good and some of it is bad, so take the good and leave the bad. I have memorized poems of Kaʿb ibn Mālik, some of which are forty verses long, and others shorter." al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Its isnād is ḥasan, and Abū Yaʿlá narrated the beginning of it from her in a marfūʿ form from another route." I said: The men of al-Bukhārī are trustworthy men of "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī," except for Jābir ibn Ismāʿīl, who is among the men of Muslim, though only Ibn Wahb narrated from him, and Ibn Ḥibbān declared him trustworthy as mentioned in "al-Khulāṣah." Others have followed him, as Ibn Wahb explicitly stated, and even if we are unaware of them, the isnād is ḥasan as al-Ḥāfiẓ said, if Allāh wills. Then I came across the isnād of Abū Yaʿlá, and all praise is due to Allāh, and I found it to be ḥasan. He said in "Musnad" (3/1167 Islamic Office Image): ʿAbbād ibn Mūsá al-Khatlī narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Thābit narrated to us from Hishām from his father from her. And this isnād is ḥasan, its men are trustworthy men of the two Shaykhs except for ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Thābit, who is Ibn Thawbān al-ʿAnsī al-Dimashqī, and his condition is known from the previous statement of al-Ḥāfiẓ, and al-Tirmidhī declared him ḥasan, so the ḥadīth, with the combination of the two routes, is ṣaḥīḥ.
