- "Acquire many sandals, for a person remains as if mounted as long as he wears them." Narrated by Muslim (6/153), Abū Dāwūd (4133), Aḥmad (3/337, 360), and al-Khaṭīb in "Tārīkh Baghdād" (3/425) through the route of Abū al-Zubayr from Jābir who said: I heard the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say during a battle we participated in: and he mentioned it. I say: Abū al-Zubayr is known for tadlīs and he narrated it with ʿanʿanah, but the ḥadīth has supporting narrations that strengthen it. Among them: from ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn with an elevated chain. Narrated by al-ʿUqaylī (230) and al-Khaṭīb (9/404-405) through the route of Mujāʿah ibn al-Zubayr al-Asadī: al-Ḥasan narrated to us from him. I say: Its narrators are trustworthy except for this Mujāʿah, and his ḥadīth is considered good. Aḥmad said: "There was nothing wrong with him." Al-Dāraqūṭnī weakened him. Al-Ḥasan is al-Baṣrī, and he is also known for tadlīs and narrated it with ʿanʿanah. Al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (5/138): "Narrated by al-Ṭabarānī and it includes Mujāʿah ibn al-Zubayr, who is not objectionable in himself. Ibn ʿAdī said: He is among those whose ḥadīth is acceptable and recorded, but al-Dāraqūṭnī weakened him, and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy." Among them: from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr with an elevated chain. Al-Haythamī said:
