it has supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Saʿīd ibn Zayd: found in Aḥmad (1/190), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Shuʿab" (5/297/6710) with a sound chain of transmission. Fourth: from Zuhayr ibn Muḥammad, from al-ʿAlāʾ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from his father, from him with the wording: "Among the major sins: a man's transgression against the honor of a Muslim man, and among the major sins: two insults for one insult." It was recorded by Ibn Abī al-Dunyā (727), as well as Abū Dāwūd (4877). All its narrators are trustworthy, narrators of "al-Ṣaḥīḥ"; however, Zuhayr is weak in the narrations of the Syrians from him, and this is one of them, so it is suitable for supporting evidence. In summary, the ḥadīth is authentic through these routes, and with its supporting evidence, so I will mention what I have been able to find of them: First: from Saʿīd ibn Zayd from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who said: "Indeed, among the greatest of major sins: a person's transgression against the honor of a Muslim man without right, and among the major sins: two insults for one insult."
