(1/183 and 186), Abū Bakr al-Bazzār in "Musnad Saʿd," Abū Yaʿlá in "Musnad" (2/71/716), and al-Shāshī in "Musnad" (1/143/79), and al-Bayhaqī in "ʿAdhāb al-Qabr" (113/183) from various chains from Shuʿbah: ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr narrated to us from Muṣʿab who said: Saʿd used to command five things and mentioned them from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) that he used to command them... and he mentioned them. al-Bukhārī added—after the phrase "the trial of this world"—: meaning: the trial of the Dajjāl. Al-Ḥāfiẓ mentioned in "al-Fatḥ" (11/179) that it is from the interpretation of some narrators. A group followed him from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr with it. Among them: ʿUbaydah ibn Ḥumayd in "Muṣannaf Ibn Abī Shaybah" (3/376 and 10/188/9179), and through his route: Abū Yaʿlá (2/110/771). From this perspective, al-Bukhārī narrated it (6390) with the wording: The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to teach us these words as he would teach writing. Ibn Ḥibbān also narrated it in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (2/175/1000). Among them: Abū ʿAwānah with al-Bukhārī (2822) said: ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr narrated to us: I heard ʿAmr ibn Maymūn al-Awdī say: Saʿd used to teach his sons these words as a teacher would teach boys writing, and he would say: The Messenger of Allāh used to seek refuge from them after the prayer... and he mentioned them. I narrated it to Muṣʿab and he confirmed it. It was also narrated by al-Nasāʾī (2/314), and al-Bayhaqī (114/184)
