(While I was sleeping, I saw people being presented to me, and they were wearing shirts; some of them reached the chest, and some reached lower than that. ʿUmar was presented to me, and he was wearing a shirt that he was dragging. They asked, "What did you interpret it as, O Messenger of Allāh?" He said, "Religion.") Narrated by ʿAbd al-Razzāq (20385), and through his route: Aḥmad (5/373-374), and al-Tirmidhī (2285) - and this wording is his - from Maʿmar from al-Zuhrī from Abū Umāmah ibn Sahl ibn Ḥunayf from some of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ that the Prophet ﷺ said: ... and he mentioned it. And it was narrated from al-Zuhrī by three others, who named the ambiguous Companion: Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī. Al-Bukhārī (23 and 2390), Muslim (7/112), al-Tirmidhī (2286), al-Nasāʾī in "al-Ṣughrā" (8/113-114) and "al-Kubrā" (7645, 8121, and 11742), Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (6890), Aḥmad (3/86), al-Dārimī (2/127), Abū Yaʿlá (1290), Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim in "al-Sunnah" (1259), and al-Baghawī in "Sharḥ al-Sunnah" (3294) from the route of Ṣāliḥ ibn Kaysān from al-Zuhrī from Abū Umāmah ibn Sahl ibn Ḥunayf from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī that the Prophet ﷺ said: ... and he mentioned it. Ṣāliḥ was followed by ʿUqayl ibn Khālid: narrated by al-Bukhārī (3691 and 7009), and Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim (1258). And they were both followed by al-Zubaydī: narrated by Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim (1257), and al-Ājurī in "al-Sharīʿah" (1436). And al-Tirmidhī said - following the narration that specified (Abū Saʿīd) -: "And this is more authentic."
