"if you asked me for this piece, I would not give it to you, and you will not escape Allāh's decree concerning you. If you turn away, Allāh will destroy you, and I see you as the one about whom I was shown what I saw." Abū Hurayrah informed me that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "While I was sleeping, I saw two gold bracelets in my hands, and their matter concerned me. It was revealed to me in a dream to blow on them, so I blew on them and they flew away. I interpreted them as two liars who will emerge after me; one was al-ʿAnsi, and the other was Musaylimah the liar, the companion of al-Yamāmah." This vision story was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2292), al-Nasāʾī in "al-Sunan al-Kubrā" (7649), and Abū Yaʿlá (5894). Al-Bukhārī (7461), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (10750), and al-Baghawī in "al-Anwār" (869) narrated the story of Musaylimah's arrival. Al-Bukhārī (4378 and 4379) narrated it in full in a similar manner from the path of Ṣāliḥ ibn Kaysān from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUbaydah ibn Nashīṭ from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUtbah from Ibn ʿAbbās... and mentioned it. Al-Bukhārī (7033 and 7034) narrated it in a summarized form from the same path. In a narration by Aḥmad (1/263) and al-Nasāʾī in "al-Kubrā" (7648) from this same path, there is no mention of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUbaydah ibn Nashīṭ. I believe that both paths are correct, as the narration of Ṣāliḥ from ʿUbayd Allāh—in other than this ḥadīth—is according to al-Bukhārī's criteria, as is the narration of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUbaydah ibn Nashīṭ from ʿUbayd Allāh as well.
