Some of them said: He is sleeping, and others said: The eyes are asleep, but the heart is awake. They said: This companion of yours has a parable, so give him a parable. some of them said: He is sleeping, and others said: The eyes are asleep, but the heart is awake. They said: His parable is like that of a man who built a house, prepared a banquet in it, and sent a caller. Whoever responded to the caller entered the house and ate from the banquet, and whoever did not respond to the caller did not enter the house and did not eat from the banquet. they said: Explain it to him so he may understand it. Some said: He is sleeping, and others said: The eyes are asleep, but the heart is awake. They said: The house is Paradise, the caller is Muḥammad (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). Whoever obeys Muḥammad (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) has obeyed Allāh, and whoever disobeys Muḥammad (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) has disobeyed Allāh, and Muḥammad distinguishes between people. the ḥadīth is in "Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim" (7/65) through the route of Sulaym with the wording: "My example and the example of the prophets is like that of a man who built a house, completed and perfected it, except for the place of a brick.
