(Allāh said: When My servant loves to meet Me, I love to meet him, and when he dislikes meeting Me, I dislike meeting him). It is from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu), and there are multiple chains from him: The first is from al-Aʿraj from him. It was recorded by Mālik, and al-Nasāʾī (1835 - Abū Ghuddah) through his chain and others, and by Aḥmad (2/418). I say: Its isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim. The second is from Shurayḥ ibn Hānī from him with it. He said: I went to ʿĀʾishah and said: O Mother of the Believers! I heard Abū Hurayrah mention a ḥadīth from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), if it is so, then we are doomed. She said: The doomed one is he who is doomed by the words of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). What is that? He said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... (and he mentioned the ḥadīth). And is there anyone among us who does not dislike death?! She said: The Messenger of Allāh indeed said it; but it is not as you think. Rather, when the eyes become fixed, the chest rattles, the skin shivers, and the fingers contract; at that time: "Whoever loves to meet Allāh; Allāh loves to meet him, and whoever dislikes meeting Allāh; Allāh dislikes meeting him." It was recorded by Muslim (8/66), and al-Nasāʾī (1834). The third is from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr from Abū Salamah from Abū Hurayrah, raised [to the Prophet] with it. It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/451). Its chain is ḥasan. (Note): Al-Mundhirī attributed the ḥadīth in "al-Targhīb" (4/168/3) to: "Mālik, al-Bukhārī - and the wording is his -, Muslim, and al-Nasāʾī." He mentioned it with the wording: "He said:
