- "If the imam stands up after two rakʿahs, if he remembers before fully standing, he should sit down. If he fully stands, he should not sit down but perform the two prostrations of forgetfulness." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd (1036), Ibn Mājah (1208), al-Dāraqutnī (145), al-Bayhaqī (2/343), and Aḥmad (4/253, 253-254) through the route of Jābir al-Juʿfī, who said: al-Mughīrah ibn Shubayl al-Aḥmasī narrated to us from Qays ibn Abī Ḥāzim from al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād [chain of transmission] has trustworthy men except for Jābir al-Juʿfī, who is weak and a Rāfiḍī. Abū Dāwūd said after the ḥadīth: "There is nothing in my book from Jābir al-Juʿfī except this ḥadīth." I said: Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Talkhīṣ" (2/4): "He is very weak." I said: Ibn al-Mulaqqin said in "Khilāṣat al-Badr al-Munīr" (Q 68/2) after it: "He said in 'al-Maʿrifah': It is not used as evidence, but it is narrated through two other routes and is well-known among the jurists."
