(5/69) all of them from the path of al-Ḥasan, saying: ʿAmr ibn Taghlib narrated to us: that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was brought wealth—or captives—and he distributed it, giving to some men and leaving others. It reached him that those he left were displeased, so he praised Allāh and extolled Him, then said: ... and he mentioned the ḥadīth. ʿAmr said: By Allāh! I would not wish to have in exchange for the words of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) the red camels! The addition within the brackets is a narration by al-Bukhārī. *

(As for highway robbery; it will not be long before caravans travel to Mecca without a guard. And as for poverty; the Hour will not be established until one of you goes around with his charity and does not find anyone to accept it from him. Then one of you will stand before Allāh with no veil or interpreter between him and Allāh, and He will say to him: Did I not give you wealth?! He will say: Yes. Then He will say: Did I not send a messenger to you?! He will say: Yes. He will look to his right and see nothing but the Fire, then look to his left and see nothing but the Fire. So let one of you protect himself from the Fire, even with half a date, and if he does not find that, then with a kind word.) It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (1413), Ibn Ḥibbān (7330), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (17/94/224), all of them from the path of Muḥil ibn Khalīfah al-Ṭāʾī, who said: I heard ʿAdī ibn Ḥātim (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) say: I was with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and two men came to him: one complaining of poverty, and the other complaining of highway robbery! The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. *
