"which mountain is this?" I said: Uḥud. He said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul! I would not be pleased if it were gold for me, spending it in the way of Allāh; saving from it a qīrāṭ." He said: I said: A qinṭār? He said: "A qīrāṭ." He said: I said: A qinṭār? He said: "A qīrāṭ." He said: I said: A qinṭār? He said repeatedly, then said: "I only say what is less, and I do not say what is more." It was narrated by Aḥmad (5/149), Ibn Jarīr al-Ṭabarī in "Tahdhīb al-Āthār" (Musnad Ibn ʿAbbās) (p. 247/407), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (3/284/3159). I said: And this isnād is authentic; because Abū Manṣūr al-Juhanī — whose name is Maymūn — is trustworthy, as Ibn Maʿīn said, and the weakness of Sālim ibn Abī Ḥafṣah does not harm it; for he is paired. And the ḥadīth is recorded in "al-Ṣaḥīḥayn" and others more completely, without the saying of Abū Dharr: I said: O Messenger of Allāh! A qinṭār... etc. And it is recorded in the sixth chapter of the book (24- Book of Repentance and Asceticism) of "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Targhīb." *
