4. Abū ʿAwn al-Ziyādī; his name is Muḥammad ibn ʿAwn, and he was declared trustworthy by Abū Ḥātim, as well as Abū Zurʿah by narrating from him. 5. al-ʿAbbās ibn al-Faḍl al-Asfaṭī; al-Samʿānī did not mention this attribution, and Ibn al-Athīr noted it in "Lubāb," saying: "This attribution is to the selling and making of (asfaṭ)." Then he mentioned this Shaykh al-ʿAbbās, and then said: "He heard from Abū al-Walīd al-Ṭayālisī, ʿAlī ibn al-Madīnī, and others. Abū al-Qāsim al-Ṭabarānī narrated from him." I said: And Aḥmad ibn ʿUbayd heard from him in another isnād for al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan al-Kubrā" (8/65); so I see that he is one of the concealed shaykhs of al-Ṭabarānī; for he narrated twenty-two ḥadīths in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ," and three others in "Musnad al-Shāmiyyīn," all of which have known texts, even if some of their isnāds are not free from weakness or defect, it does not attach to him, and Allāh knows best the number of ḥadīths he narrated in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" besides this, and it is likely that they are much more. For this reason; I have confidence in the authenticity of his ḥadīth; especially since it has supporting evidence: including from Abū Hurayrah with Ibn Ḥibbān with a good isnād, which is produced in "al-Irwāʾ" (7/54), and from Anas with Aḥmad, whose isnād was deemed good by al-Mundhirī in "al-Targhīb" (3/75). Then I saw for al-Asfaṭī a follower who is acceptable at least in the supporting evidence, strengthening what I mentioned about him earlier; for al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr presented his ḥadīth in "al-Bidāyah" (6/136) with the narration of al-Ṭabarānī, and commented on them by saying:
