A similar narration is by Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr who said: Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to me from Yazīd ibn Naʿīm ibn Hazzāl — and Hazzāl was the one who stoned Māʿiz — he said: My family had a slave girl who tended their sheep, she was called Fāṭimah ... the ḥadīth is similar to the ḥadīth of the chapter. It was narrated by al-Nasāʾī (7280), and al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (1/87/93 and 12/463/4944). It was also narrated by Aḥmad; however, he said: from Naʿīm ibn Hazzāl ... he did not mention Yazīd ibn Naʿīm. A similar narration is by Yaḥyá ibn Saʿīd — who is al-Anṣārī — from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir from Ibn Hazzāl from his father Hazzāl with it. It was narrated by al-Nasāʾī (7275) — and there is a typographical error in its chain —, and also by al-Ḥākim, and al-Bayhaqī (8/330-331), and Aḥmad (5/217), and Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr, who said: "This ḥadīth is preserved from Yaḥyá ibn Saʿīd from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir from a son of Hazzāl from Hazzāl. And from Yaḥyá ibn Saʿīd from Yazīd ibn Naʿīm ibn Hazzāl from different sources." I said: He is referring to the narration of al-Layth from Yaḥyá mentioned earlier in (Secondly), and it is apparent that Ibn Hazzāl is: Naʿīm, and that Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir narrated it directly from him, so he — meaning: Naʿīm — has another narrator besides his son Yazīd ibn Naʿīm
