I said: This is a good isnād, if Allāh wills, its men are trustworthy from the men of "al-Tahdhīb"; except for Muslim ibn al-Walīd ibn Rabāḥ, whom Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned, saying: "... the client of the family of Abū Dhubāb, narrated from al-Muṭṭalib ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥanṭab. And al-Bukhārī included this name in the chapter (al-Walīd ibn Muslim ibn Abī Rabāḥ), and Abū Zurʿah said: It is actually (Muslim ibn al-Walīd). And my father said the same." He did not mention any criticism or endorsement about him. It is in "Tārīkh al-Bukhārī" (4/2/153/2534) as mentioned, but reversed! The correct version is in "al-Jarḥ" as confirmed by the Yemeni investigator in his commentary on "al-Tārīkh", and it was also mentioned by al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Mizzī among the narrators from (al-Muṭṭalib ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥanṭab) in his book "Tahdhīb al-Kamāl". Ibn Ḥibbān also mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" briefly; he said (7/446): "Muslim ibn al-Walīd, narrates from his father from Abū Hurayrah, narrated from him Ibn al-Hād and al-Darāwardī." And there is an important benefit not mentioned in (the two books), which is the narration of these two trustworthy narrators from him: al-Darāwardī—who is ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad—the narrator of this ḥadīth from him, and Ibn al-Hād, and his ḥadīth from him was extracted by Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (4158-al-Iḥsān), and I had extracted it in "al-Irwāʾ" (7/64) before I came across this biography in "al-Thiqāt"; so let it be benefited from, and transferred there. Al-Mundhirī and then al-Haythamī did not come across it, and the name of the grandfather (Rabāḥ) was altered to: (al-ʿAbbās), so al-Mundhirī said (2/184/4):
