It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī in "al-Baʿth wa-al-Nushūr" (298/616) through al-Ḥākim with his authentic isnād from Aṣbagh ibn al-Faraj: Ibn Wahb narrated to us from ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith who informed him that Darrāj Abū al-Samaḥ narrated to him that he heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Jazʾ al-Zubaidī, a Companion of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), say from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): ... and he mentioned it. I said: And this isnād is good, all its men are trustworthy; despite the well-known disagreement regarding Darrāj Abū al-Samaḥ, the preferred opinion is that he is reliable in ḥadīth except from Abū al-Haytham, and this is one of them, as he narrated it from ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Jazʾ by hearing. And it was recorded by al-Ḥākim (4/593) - through the route of Baḥr ibn Naṣr-, and Ibn Ḥibbān (2613 - al-Mawārid) - through the route of Ḥarmalah- both said: Ibn Wahb narrated it to us; without the second part of it. And al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic isnād." And al-Dhahabī agreed with him. And Ibn Lahīʿah followed him from Darrāj with both parts. It was recorded by Aḥmad (4/191)
